The origin of the name is from the story of Jacob who built a ladder to
"fight an angel" and fighting an angel means fighting god,in ancient
hebrew,Israel is a pun on the term "sara ba-el" which means
"fought the god"
his name was changed from Jacob to Israel because of that
The flag is an homage/immitation of a jewish scarf (of sorts) worn by prayers
and religious people called "Talit"
It has 2 blue horizontal stripes and a David Shield in the middle on a white
background, altough a real "Talit" usually doesn't have a David shield
on it
Wheter the voice acting is good or bad shouldn't make that much of a
diffrence,if you don't like the Voice acting you can always buy the DVDs or
continue to DL it
(Kudos for DB and Bleach-Society for not chickening out)
I think that the greatest advantage of anime licensing is more merchandise and
games being translated (Sometimes they don't require language skills, like Heat
The Soul Series and BleachDS,but you never know when they'll think about
developing an RPG)
Quote by lindorkI just finished the
second episode yesterday. It's too sad for it's cute animation. Gya... I didn't
expect this anime to be so depressing but it is
I second that,that is depressing
however, depressingly beautiful as the stories are well written and the animation
seems very good
also, this is one of the few animes i don't mind hearing the op and ed over and
over with each new ep
Quote by nght5tlkrGundam : Char's
Counterattack is by far, the greatest.
Quote by Darowinthere is a ps2 game (or
is it a XBox game not sure) there has a mech attachment on it...
It is basically a consol by its self (consol here mean a mech
consol)...
It has 50 workable buttons..
2 joysticks for movement controls...
netware...
Everything you will every need for a mech...
But it is really expensive
That was for the XBOX. For which game, I forget...
Steel Battalion.....
I remember that one,the first game came in one edition only, the one that cost
200$ Including the bigass controller, the package was a f***in' Treasure
chest
the 2nd game which featured Live support came in two editions, one with the
controller and one without it (you still need that huge thing to play
though)
At an videogame gallery (Called "Game-On") that was a year ago here
they brought a copy of it with the Controller,i played for 1.5 hours and didn't
get the hang of it.
Other than that when it comes to Mecha Games i'm all up for Gundam
Also,be sure to check out "Lost Planet" also by Capcom,it's going to
feature a few mechs
I remember the part when Cagalli ordered her men to arrest him
after the order one of the officers said "As Cagalli Sama orders,i will
comply" and then you see a close-up of him punching him...ahhhhh....i
remember seeing that specific mili-second again and again and again and again
and again....never got tired of it
This is something that came to my mind when Ichigo&co. first reached Soul
Society
In bleach's world every "Pluses" (Or "Wholes" if you like)
and Hollows go to Soul Society after they've been liberated by a zanpaktou (sp?)
Soul Society at first glance looks like a city from the Edo period, however, this
only makes sense since the plot takes place in japan and the series itself
originated in Japan
but what happens to Souls at other places in the world?
Do Souls in the US go to a Soul Society that's modeled after a colonial period
city where the captains look like Generals from the American
Revolution?
Do souls in europe go to a rennisance city where captains look like Royal
Nobles?
Do Souls in South America go to an Aztec and/or Incan city where the captains
look like tribal warriors?
The everlasting question....one out of many, why do we keep asking it? because
we're always developing
Although i'm an atheist,i'm not anti-religion and respect most beliefs (and
their aspects) of mankind as long as they're humane as possible and do not
preach to harm others on an illogical basis without a proper explanation each
man has the right to believe in what he wants to,it's the beauty of our
diffrences.
anyways,going back to the subject
there have been too many speculations, but going back to the days when science
was not evolved, people chose to believe that Events of nature were created by a
great being, some will even divide the duties and roles among several
gods.
The gauls for example believe that the sky might fall on their,A random tribe
would believe that one a volcano erupts it means that god is angry, nowadays we
have logical and scientifical explantions to most of it,whereas religion in a
sense, stopped its deveolpment and left all of the explaining to the holy
writings
( i use this term since i refer to the judaism, christinaty,Islam and any other
religion that has its writing)
and god
the belief in god however led to the middle ages, where the priesthood was the
ruler behind the curtains, manipulating Royalty whom were manipulating those
weaker than them and stopping the technological advancements for centuries, that
was because there was no distinction between religion and the state
nowadays it's unlikely to happen and there's a logical explanation for many
things that happened in the holy writings) but it doesn't mean that religion and
the belief in god is forbidden.
my 2 cents and i apologize in advance if i've hurt anybody,
Sumimasen.
I've always thought that it was cut short, the ending in itself was quite a
disappointment really, leaving such a huge cliffhanger
An anime based on of the best mangas ever written that had it
all,Romance, friendship, betrayel and very unique characters, even though it was
watered down for TV (the manga has much more detail when guts is slashing
someone, heck,he can punch somebody's brain out of his skull).
The ending leaves with you asking so many questions, and most of them are
eventually answered in the manga that's still ongoing
I rate anime by its storyline mostly, the storyline has to be
developing, intriguing and innovative as much as possible, the characters
themselves also need to develop, that either means growing up,maturing, finding
out about new things and honing their skills
The animation is an advantage, but one should not judge a book by its cover, there
are some animes from the 80's and early 90's that look "Bad" in
today's standards, but they're just as good if not better than some modern
anime
Also, when an anime falls into a specfic genre it should be loyal to it and not
try to be something it's not,it's to throw in a secret romance when everybody
around you is fighting, but don't overdo it,it needs to find the right balance
between everything, you wouldn't want people suddenly killing each other in a
bread baking anime or 2 people who hate each other's guts suddenly getting along
for no apparent reason...
Most animes follow the manga and some tend to judge by it, to me it seems a bit
harsh because when a series turns successful then the bigger the chance it will
enter a period of Fillers and filler arcs, but that does mean that the canon
turned bad,it just took a break
but above all,it's still a matter of personal taste, you can count on multiple
ratings/reviews to be honest, but there's always a chance that you might not like
it,you just need to see a few episodes yourself. don't be quick to judge though
since it takes some time for a series to lift off
Ichimaru,Onimusha Dawn of dreams was released in Japan with a full english
soundtrack, including voice acting and subtitles, making the game playable (and
more fun, since you can understand the storyline)
I'm currently at my 4th run of Maverick Hunter X
Bleach DS mostly with RL friends, online players tend to be too cheap
I thought about importing the Jap version of Onimusha DoD,but i think i'll go
for the NTSC version eventually
I've got 5 games for the 360,still waiting to get my hands on them elusive
premium packs
These type of animes are what i like to call Manga-Previews,they're usually
short and have open endings, either because they were promised a 2nd season and
never had one (Berserk) or because they were built on the popularity of the
manga that came beforehand,Gantz falls to the latter category (at least that's
what i think).
as far as i know, the 3rd anime arc was an original story made espcially for
it,whereas the manga continued to a diffrent storyline
Game music had always been my favorite genre, although technically it's not
really a "genre" since many composers have diffrent inspirations and
use diffrent styles of known music, like Timothysan said,it has become a genre
with increasing popularity in Japan,if Resident Evil can get an Orchestral tour
than there's really no limit
As for Nobuo,he's still one of the greatest composers ever,an inspiration for
many current composers (Tommy T.'s favorite) Final Fantasy has great storylines
and gameplay, but without the music that lets you connect to
sorroundings, characters, events etc. something would be a miss
the genre itself is always evolving, wheter it is by remixes (official and
unofficial) and brand new music
My personal favorites are:
Megaman Series (For the NES games i recommend unofficial remixes,SNES and the
latter are just as good along with great remixes)
Castlevania (Always a classic)
Dragon Quest ( Same as above)
F-Zero
Zelda
EarthWorm Jim series (Only 1 and 2 though)
Sonic series
Going on newer titles:
Metal Gear Solid (It's a whole diffrent exprience with Harry
Gregson-Williams)
Devil May Cry (Diffrent from Capcom's style, but still pretty good)
Lumines (Without its music, there's no game)
Rez (The same as above)
Guilty Gear (there's a japanese and a korean version for XX#Reload, both are just
as good)
DJ Max Portable, just got it recently and haven't had the time to play it
much, but looks very promising,it's like DDR with your hands, but it seems to have
a lot of styles
Personally,i prefer most subs over dubs, there aren't that much that do justice
to the original version Samurai Champloo,Cowboy Bebop and FMA are some of
them
A few years back that might've been an issue since you when you bought a VHS you
only bought one Audio track and/or Subbed/Dubbed
nowadays with DVDs you get the choice between both,so it's all a matter of what
you prefer,i'm not gonna bash anybody for preffering one method over the other
This is original
What
can you with O.K?
I'm from Israel,

Mine would have to be "All the way" from Kino no Tabi by Mikuni Shimokawa
I can't get enough of it

just a random thought XP
Intelligent,Cunning and with dreams to make this a better world by making the ultimate sacrifice of becoming evil himself.
I choose Yagami Light's side,
I think i look alot like Anji Mito from GG,minus the tiny glasses and the huge chest muscles
in personality traits i think i can relate to his sillyness
I love anime OST! (sorry,i just had to do it)
my favorites are the Gundam ones,some of the best op and ed themes,and not forgetting the songs inbetween of course ^^;

*Is already downloading the above mentioned Soundtrack*
I've always been a fan of SNES music,i just didn't put what you already mentioned because i wanted to be more original ^_^;
but all of the titles you mentioned are amazing
Damn,I can't believe i forgot to mention Advent Rising,
a prime example of a how game music can save a game from being a total disaster.
Music gets an A+, gameplay gets a D
